Falconhead Viognier 2021, Hawkes Bay

Very enticing bouquet with aromas of flowers then ripe white fleshed apricot, some peach and apple then a touch of toasty spice and mineral. On the palate - soft and silky textured with some contrasting acidity, plenty of weight and drive. As the wine opens up on the palate flavours of spicy flowers and stone fruit become more intense and classic with a lovely concentration and length. A delicious example with subtlety and finesse, floral charms and a core of fruit. Best drinking from 2022 through 2025.
