Known Unknown Petane Piquette 2021, New Zealand

A Pet Nat style with a light onion skin hue leading to aromas of apples and pears, a lager or whit-beer aroma, lees and lemon. There’s a ‘natural’ orange peel scent with a clay soil mineral note suggested. On the palate - there’s an immediate sparkle with the mushrooming of CO2 carrying fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. As the mousse settle the flavours of citrus peel and orange piko tea emerge. Some fine fruit tannins and a touch of ginger on the finish. Overall well made and ready to drink day of purchase and through 2023.
