Very dark hues of purple and ruby with pink rim. Aromas of fresh purple fruits, dark plums and black currants, moments of raisin and fresh date, intensely scented violets, a gentle alcohol lift and intense granite-like mineral core. Complex. Very smooth and silky on the palate with flavours that reflect the bouquet as well the intensity, an abundance of fine almost dusty chalk textured tannins, plenty of acidity, warming alcohol and wet graphite flavours. Complex, lengthy and totally delicious. Perfect on its own, with very rich meaty dishes and game, some chocolate desserts and challenging cheeses. Best drinking upon purchase and through 2040+.
