Zenta range - tasted
This range of Zenta products is new - to me at least. They are produced in Auckland’s West and retail at $14.99 per bottle. They are stocked in Thirsty Liquor stores and some Asian restaurants and clubs. Tasting notes and recommendations here:
Feijoa - made with a vodka base, natural feijoa flavour and and citric acid. Aromas and flavours of feijoa peel and fermented green pear. Very sweet on the palate with noticeable feijoa flavours then contrasting alcohol and a whisper of acidity. A drink now beverage that I feel is best suited in a tall glass with ice and mint or in a cocktail as a flavour enhancer while adding sugar as well.
Peach - made with a vodka base, natural peach flavour and citric acid. Aromas and flavours of peach tea and flowers. There’s an artificial aroma and flavours which I find distracting. Quite sweet too with an artificial sugar sensation bordering on chemical. Also a drink now beverage over lots of ice with a lemon juice contrast. Or as a cocktail ingredient.
Mango - made with a vodka base, natural mango flavour, carthamus concentrate and citric acid. Aromas and flavours of mango, pineapple and tropical fruits. Reminds me of the frozen pineapple ice-blocks I had as a child. Very sweet with contrasting citric acid taste and texture. Also a drink now beverage over lots of ice with a lemon juice contrast. Or as a cocktail ingredient.
Chocolate - made with a vodka base, natural chocolate flavour and citric acid. Aromas and flavours of milk chocolate. As the liquid is warmed in the palate there is a soft creamy texture then the acidity begins to offer contrast. Sweet with a persistent flavour and very useful as a cocktail ingredient - perhaps an espresso martini type.
