144 Islands Marsanne 2020, Bay of Islands

144 Marsanne.png

From their Home Block - this brand new release wine showcases aromas and flavours of apple, quince and pear, a natural varietal salty scent - classic for Marsanne from the Rhone Valley - and a leesy complexity. On the palate - weighty, but not full-bodied, flavours of citrus and spice, pith and apple, spice and beeswax moments with a soft lanolin moment. Acidity adds crispness and additional texture to contrast the fruit. Complex, dry and intriguing. Best served cool, but not cold, an aperitif style with a dry finish. I suggest it be served with appetiser that are slightly salty - such as olives and anchovies. Best drinking from today and through 2024.
