Elephant Hill Stone Cabernet Sauvignon 2018, Hawkes Bay
A seductive yet restrained bouquet with a focused core of blackberry fruit and barrel spices, smoke and stones, violets and cassis. Youthful, complex and enticing. Very expressive on the palate with a youthful texture from tannins and firm acid line. Flavours of black currant then tart blackberry, tobacco and dried hay along with salivating and lightly salty mouthfeel counterbalances tannins with ease and allows the flavours of cassis and violets to ease through on the finish. A dark chocolate note on the finish layers in even more complexity and intrigue. An excellent example ready from drinking from 2023 through 2030+.
