Clos Henri Vineyard Chapel Block Blanc de Noir 2016, Marlborough
A fascinating wine with a bouquet of sweet citrus and white peach, a core of wet pebble minerality, blossoms and then a gentle savoury autolysis of yeast. On the palate - bone dry - on the first few sips - then as the wine edges closer to ambient the crispness of acidity and citrus then minerality give way to a softer rounder more silken texture. Fruit flavours remain strong and the autolysis increases its impact. High acidity and lengthy finish - a lovely complexity and charm. Balanced and well made. A delicious aperitif style like excellent with oysters and Cloudy bay clams in a fresh fettuccine with Canterbury truffle.
