Rockferry The Corners Vineyard Nebbiolo 2016, Marlborough

Varietal, rustic and curious bouquet with scents of sour and ripe red cherry, red plum, spicy salami notes and a rocky mineral layer. There’s complexity and mystery, a floral charm of roses and kitchen cupboard spices. On the palate - firm, very tense an engaging with high-ish acidity and very firm tannins - for a 2016 this wine is still on its journey to harmony - give it time it will get there. The light red fruit flavours, spices and meaty attributes reflect the nose. Should you wish to enjoy this wine before 2022 then please decant it it a couple of hours ahead of serving and best to match it with fresh protein such as rare red meats or pastas with lots of cream and capers.
