Georges Road Williams Hill Pinot Noir 2018, Waipara, North Canterbury
An enticing bouquet with a steely, mineral rich, savoury and fruit centric attack. Flavours on the palate of cranberry and cherry, red fruits compote then brown spices of vanilla and a new wood layer. As the wine begins to open up in glass flavours of plum and cherry become more intense, but the steely, mineral and oak layers keep returning. Acidity is medium+, tannins firm and quite chalky in texture. A youthful wine needing some cellar time to settle in more and allow the harmonies to emerge. Decant for service with best drinking from later in 2021 through 2025+.
