Helio Chardonnay 2019, Hawkes Bay
Pure, ripe, complex, fruity, a mix of spices and wood tones and minerality, attractive and familiar, intriguing and calling. On the palate - weighty and fresh, flavours of white and yellow stone fruit, then apple and citrus. The oak is nicely layered throughout and does not dominate allowing a subtle flinty flavour to emerge. Lengthy finish with some fine wood tannins and persistent flavour. A lovely wine to cellar for a couple of years with best drinking from late 2021 through 2025+.
