Black Barn Vineyards Block 191 Chardonnay 2019, Hawkes Bay
A pure and captivating bouquet. Aromas of grapefruit and peach, wild flowers and river stones, baked apple, pear and baking spices of barrel. At the core of the bouquet is minerality and pristine ripe-fruit scents with a distinctive mineral layer and whisper of salinity. On the palate - equally precise, youthful and complex. Flavours of citrus and tree fruits repeat layered atop a foundation of oak barrel spice and medium+ acidity, gentle toasty qualities and silky textures. There's a grand cru feel about this wine ticking the boxes of fruit purity, soil, complexity, charm and length. Well made with plenty of energy, texture and length. Best drinking from mid to late 2021 through 2028+.
