Hancock & Sons Chardonnay 2018, Bridge Pa, Hawkes Bay

Elegant, creamy, varietal and fruity core with aromas of sweet peach, white flowers, mineral and citrus. There’s a seam of vanilla spice from the use of French oak adding complexity and charm. On the palate - youthful, tense fruity and fine with a lovely soft satin textured mouthfeel, contrasting acidity and bite from the oak. The oak has less impact on the palate - I like this - allowing the core to reveal more complexity and length on the finish. Warm and generous on the finish, well made and ready. Perhaps a more food oriented style till end of 2022 then on its own till 2024.
