Pask Declaration Chardonnay 2016, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay
Bold, fruity, aromas of baking spices and nuts, toasty, woody, vanilla and yellow fleshed stone-fruits. Overall sophisticated, attractive and complex. On the palate - full-bodied, intense, woody, fruity and dry. Many attributes to please Chardonnay fans with this example. Medium acidity, balanced, a core of fruit and oak, vanilla and clove, citrus, apple and stone-fruit. Long finish, youthful, well-made. Decant for service. Best drinking from today and through 2024.

Pask Small Batch Trilliant Merlot, Cabernet & Malbec blend 2016, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay
Lovely bouquet of dark wood spices, smoke, plums and dark berries. Suggestions of violets, dry earth, stones and licorice add depth, complexity and a little intrigue. On the palate - medium+ weight, very textured then woody, fruity and dry. Flavours from the bouquet rush through the palate accentuated by firm chalky textured tannins and bold acidity. Lengthy youthful finish. Decant for service please. Best drinking from 2021 through 2026.

Pask Declaration Syrah 2014, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay
Very inviting bouquet with a core of dark berries and integrating wood aromas. Dark spices of crushed clove and vanilla pod then a smoky wood, leather note, plums pepper and dark cherry. On the palate - dry, textured, fine to moderate tannins with a gravel, chalky form, plenty of acidity and a core of fruit to carry the package. Quite a lengthy finish and quite complex overall. Nice wine requiring a splash decant just before service and some fresh protein to melt away some tannin. Best drinking from today and through 2024.
