Hans Herzog Lagrein 2018, Marlborough

Couldn’t wait to open and taste this wine from one of my favourite Marlborough producers.

The bouquet is filled with charm and promise. Aromas of wild red flowers and berries, a distinctive core of earth, crushed minerals and complexity. These ideas translate seamlessly to the palate with flavours that reflect the nose plus - lashings of sweet plum and cherry, more wild flowers then oak. Youthful with abundant acidity, firm, fine and ripe tannins and gently warming alcohol. Lengthy finish, great balance, texture and personality. Overall a delicious wine that is drinking great now, but like many HH wines - this example too will continue to develop. Enjoy today and through 2025.
