Element Syrah 2017, Hawkes Bay

Fruit for this wine is sourced from the Gimblett Gravels - the bouquet reflects this with a bold earthy quality of gravels and stones then a natural peppery spice contrasted by aromas of black currant and raspberry. The oak offers additional aromas of baking spices and toast. Very youthful on the palate with a tannin dominating attack. The acidity is also quite strong, but like the tannins will settle with some cellar time. Fruits flavours return to reflect the nose. Overall a vibrant, youthful and engaging wine, decant for service and serve with food. Drink now and through 2024+.

Element Cabernet Merlot 2017, Hawkes Bay

Fruit for this wine is sourced from the Gimblett Gravels - aromas and flavours suggest tobacco and dark berries, dry stones and roasted bell-pepper. Toasty barrel spices of clove and vanilla along with a a rocky, gravel-like earthy quality. Very youthful on the palate with the structure dominating - tannins, acidity and power. The fruits described do emerge on the second and third taste. A wine with some development time needed to show off its true potential, final flavours and textures. Decant for service and enjoy with high protein food. Best from 2022 through 2026.
