Main Divide

Main Divide by the Donaldson Family Riesling 2016 North Canterbury

Distinctive aromatics, varietal, fruity and intense. With flavours of lemon and spice, apple and flowers, honeysuckle and apricot this wine has much to say. A coarse silk texture, refreshing and lively acidity, flavours that reflect the nose and a lengthy, tasty and light toasty finish. With nearly four years bottle age so far this wine demonstrates how well Riesling can age and that complexity and flavour development are an important part of the the life-cycle of this variety. Drink now and through 2022.

Main Divide by the Donaldson Family Chardonnay 2018 North Canterbury

Bold and expressive aromas of yellow peach and red apple, plenty of toasty wood, burnt butter, vanilla, wood shavings and nutty oak suggestions. Equally expressive and intense on the palate with flavours that directly reflect the nose. Medium acidity, plenty of toasty brown spices of wood. Quite weighty, balanced and well made. Drink now and through 2021.

Main Divide by the Donaldson Family Pinot Noir 2016 North Canterbury

What a lovely bouquet of Pinot Noir with cherry and red apple, dried raspberry and limestone soil aromas. Mild to moderate toasty wood layer with some clove and vanilla. A dry wine on the palate with flavours of plum and tart cherry, dried raspberry and dried herb. Quite textured with tannins and acidity contrasting the fruit and wood flavours. Overall well made with medium+ (ish) length. Decant for service with best drinking today and through 2021.
