Premium Marlborough Wine Companies’ merger “an organic fit.”

Marlborough’s Coterie Du Vin and Glover Family Vineyards today announced their merger into a new integrated wine company, The Coterie.

Directors Ben Glover and Rhyan Wardman said the merger of both businesses had been part of the long-term strategic vision for the shareholders. They said the merger was an organic fit given that Glover Family Vineyards wines were already being produced at Coterie Du Vin’s Bedford Road winery, and that both companies shared the same philosophy toward winemaking.

Over the past four years Coterie Du Vin has specialised in small batch, organic, premium contract winemaking for a range of wine brands. Glover Family Vineyards is one of Marlborough’s oldest family-owned grape growers, and producer of premium Marlborough brands Zephyr, Massey Dacta and Bob /Short for Kate.

Staff of both businesses will transition to the new company. Jude Hobson has been appointed General Manager with Pierre Vienings taking on the role of Operations Winemaker completing The Coterie’s management team.

The Coterie, situated on the Renwick Tce was formed 4 years ago by Ben Glover and Rhyan Wardman as a custom crush facility for; organic, small batch, family owned, boundary riding, Marlborough Wine producers. Whom are willing to gather around The Coterie Kitchen Table to collaboratively disrupt the norm for the betterment of Marlborough Wine and premium wine as a whole. Glover Family Vineyards established in 2007 to showcase our unique family vineyard through the Zephyr Wine brand (while Ben was still being the most un-corporate corporate winemaker) is still fully whanau farmed, championing our single vineyard estate in the Dillons Pt Sub-region. Since then Ben has also added to his premium wine quiver a collection of brands- – Massey Dacta, Bob Short for Kate, and Mr Glover. www.zephyrwine.com; www.masseydacta.com;

 The bringing together of these two entities as one unit aims to provide a cohesive collective in telling our individual stories, and provides a step change and platform for our whanau to do this. Essentially there are no immediate changes rather this is a key moment to strengthen, cement and deliver our vision through our wine stories and our wines.
