Wine and beverage reviews

If you’re reading this there’s a good chance you’ve had a browse through the new and improved CamDouglasMS.com.  CamDouglasMS.com is the culmination of 25 years of sharing my love of New Zealand wine and beverages from around the world.

CamDouglasMS.com is now the home of all my reviews, writing, reports and will also act as a hub for supporting the New Zealand wine sector.  Commissioned wine lists, wine programmes, tasting notes and staff training / website tasting videos can all be ordered through the site.

When I received my Master Sommelier pin, taking out top marks in our year, I knew this was a platform that I could now to use to help others on their wine journey.  20 years of teaching students at AUT, writing dozens of wine lists and working the floor of some of the greatest restaurants in the world.  The Master Somm credentials are the most trusted and recognised at the moment of truth, “what wine would you recommend?”.

The new and natural next step in sharing my thoughts on wines is to take the easy and clear 100pt scoring system and my reviews on to the bottle.  Digital and Physical stickers can now be purchased online.

I’ve always prided myself and taken great joy in reviewing wines at no cost – and that will always continue.  However, I’m no stranger to the time constraints and deadlines placed on us all from time to time.  If needed you can purchase an Express or Urgent review.

I do ask that from September onwards if you’d like to promote a review or score given on CamDouglasMS.com, you support our sustainability and take advantage of the benefits of subscribing as a winery, using the digital and physical stickers as paid marketing tools to support your sales online or at retail.

Wine bottle stickers are one of the biggest influencers for any wine buyer. At CamDouglasMS.com the aim is to combine the 100-point scale with a single word statement about the quality. The eye-catching ‘Mustang Yellow’ sticker is also thoughtfully designed to stand out on shelf.

  • A Recommended sticker indicates to the buyer that they are purchasing a wine that they can enjoy immediately upon purchase, will match up with a range of food, but also offer a good example of the variety or style they are looking for.

  • A Premium sticker indicates to the buyer that they are making a purchase worthy of their attention and investment, a wine to rely on being rather good and will deliver on taste, texture, finish and satisfaction.

  • An Excellent sticker is where the quality, intensity and complexity of the wine holds your attention. It is a wine that can be enjoyed today or sit in the cellar for a time. A wine of this quality is probably best enjoyed with food, but doesn’t have to be. The right glass for a wine of this quality is almost as important.

  • An Outstanding sticker says just that – this wine is outstanding and is a great example of a wine for its style, variety or genre.  A wine for the cellar, collectors or a treasured gift.  A wine with balance, length and complexity.

Lastly, a visit to CamDouglasMS.com to read the full tasting notes on mobile or desktop will also give buyers an enriched experience, offering more confidence in their purchase decision.

I hope this brief intro has given you an overview on how we’re making my efforts to support the industry sustainable, flexible and user friendly.

Now, back to today’s tasting notes!

Cheers,

Cam
