Visiting Aotearoa - A message from a New Zealand wine fan
Message: Hi Cameron,
I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful website and all the wine reviews that you have posted for free. This has been invaluable while researching some NZ wines that I've seen while in Wellington shops last year and of those which of them may suit my personal tastes.
I'm currently on my last couple of days in quarantine in Rotorua before heading down to Wellington to conduct a research experiment in the Cook Strait for NIWA & GNS. While in Wellington I'll be hitting up some of the local shops and restaurants tasting as many local NZ wines that I can before heading out to sea. As I'm sure you understand, there's not much to do while in quarantine but your website and wine reviews have helped pass many hours and given me heaps of information regarding some of the wine regions here in NZ.
Last year I discovered the Gimblett Gravels vineyard and in particular the beautiful Syrah that is made there. I feel as though the wines coming from G.G. are downright world class and even though I don't see them on the store shelves back home in San Diego, CA, I am thankful that I've discovered this hidden gem. I'm hoping to taste wines from other regions on this trip to expand my horizons of NZ wine.
New Zealand is amazing in so many ways and discovering all of these wonderful wines while down here has just made it that much better. Cheers and thank you for taking the time to read this!
