Junior Sommelier Prize taking place

Amelia French from The George Hotel in Christchurch was awarded the Junior Sommelier of the Year prize at the sommelier competitions in 2017.

Our great Sommelier supporters and the Prize Sponsor Misha's Vineyard have scheduled an impressive weekend for her - exploring some of the fine wines of Central Otago - with tutored tastings at Felton Rd, Burn Cottage, and Maude Wines, as well as a Grand Finale in Queenstown that includes an impressive selection of their own award winning wines.

These private tastings will be conducted by the winemakers themselves, including Ollie Masters, Misha's own.  A highlight will be a spectacular helicopter ride with Wanaka Helicopters over the Cromwell Basin sub-region - landing at Misha's Vineyard site. Amelia will be hosted generously throughout, and will spend time at the Wilkinson home, as well as at the Rees Hotel in beautiful Queenstown where she will be part of an extensive tasting and dinner on the final evening, during which she will present a short seminar on the art of the sommelier.

Australian journalist Winsor Dobbin will be in attendance at this event at The Rees.
